Adored by railroaders and collectors the world over; treasured by those who know fine timepieces and hoarded by collectors, the Hamilton is arguably the finest made American pocket watch. Of course you'll hear Waltham, Illinois and Elgin fans disagree — and with good points — the Hamilton seems to occupy a special place in our hearts.
Who could possibly resist the allure of the mighty 992 railroad classic? With its flawless porcelain double-sunk dial and separate ground sub-seconds register; bright blued spaded hands and oversized black Arabic numerals it just FEELS like a railroader's timepiece!
The movement, marked in GOLD 992/Double-Roller/Hamilton Watch Co./Lancaster, PA/21 Jewels/Made in U.S.A./5 positions/Adjusted. These magnificent machines featured 21 hand set ruby jewels in a 3/4 nickel plate and were adjusted to Heat, Cold, isochronism [the winding down of the mainspring] and five positions. They also featured Breguet hairsprings, double-rollers, a steel escape wheel, fancy line damaskeening and a SOLID GOLD CENTER WHEEL.
