We're pleasantly surprised to see the resurgence of early wire-lug watches among women who are looking for fashionable timepieces. These patrons seem to be drawn to several elements of early wristlet pieces: They, like their wearers, are unusual and artistic. They make a statement that those of a certain social circle want to make.
This early 20th century ladies sterling wrist art falls squarely into the "Goldilocks zone" of our collectors. It is a fine piece, early, with an excellent dial, 30mm by 23mm wire lug case in solid sterling silver and a high-grade 15 ruby-jeweled movement by none other than Sada of Switzerland. This work is simply stunning, from its exquisitely chased sterling case to its original matching buckle and period presentation box.
I can see this watch on the arm of someone who's, quite frankly, well-heeled and tasteful, flitting about from soiree to soiree; event-to-event, kiss-kiss. It's black taffeta and champagne, symphony fund-raisers and meeting the partner's spouses — and it says so much about who you are. We're finding Southern belles buying these because they know their society grandmothers wore them; we're finding them popular in New England and along the better parts of the West Coast. Buyers in the Mid-West, you know who you are!
Of course we have completely cleaned, oiled and calibrated this early timepiece so that it keeps time as it was intended.
Supply us with your wrist measurements and we will custom fit a ribbon watchband to fit you.
