Men’s 1915 Election Chronometer in 18k Gold

Fabrique Election was founded in La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland in 1850 by A. Braunschweig. Noted for producing well-crafted, intricate timepieces – simple and complicated; repeaters, chronographs, automata as well as grande sonnerie, they specialized in large solid gold watches.

In 1907, Fabrique Election was granted Swiss patent number 38941 for a watch movement seated in a dustproof frame. Such innovation would be a hallmark of the discreet but extraordinary watch house. In 1914, they were invited to exhibit at the prestigious Berme Exhibition in Switzerland: Reviewed and praised by the Journal Suisse d’Horlogerie for their craftsmanship and engineering, they were granted a Grand Prize.

There are wrist watches, there are vintage timepieces – and then there are works of wrist art. Equally handsome is its substantial, solid 18k gold case: Measuring 47mm by 24mm, it creates that rare and opulent Hollywood aura one craves but seldom, if ever, finds. Open its hinged back and you will find a treasure-within-a-treasure: its original “Election Chronometre” movement, fitted within an inner frame marked "Grand Prix/Berne, 1914."

We have completely cleaned, oiled and calibrated its 15 ruby jeweled movement to keep time as intended. Also, we've taken the liberty of fitting the piece with a hand-crafted cordovan strap and matching 18k buckle.
