The American Waltham Watch Company was one of the originators of the Industrial Movement and was a force so powerful, so influential that it can be credited with no less than helping settle the United States. Waltham was a pioneer in interchangeable parts for timepieces, a concept unheard of during the middle of the 19th century when the company was founded.

With the hopes of the American Industrial Revolution resting squarely on its shoulders, the American Waltham Watch Company performed far beyond anyone's expectations —and nearly crushing the Swiss watch industry in the process. During the 1880s when this extraordinary timepiece was produced, Waltham artisans and engineers were among the best in the world. One look at this watch and one understands why.

Where does one begin to describe art? How does one harness the ineffable, putting into words the history, talent and ingenuity of such a legendary company?

To tell you about this handsome work of art, do we begin by touching on its solid nickel, grade 610 16 size genuine American Waltham Watch movement — made expressly for the English market — an impressive engineering achievement in its own right? Do we discuss its completely original yellow gold-tone case “Dennison” marked hunter case? The matching chain with pen-knife? Or should we discuss what appears to be its mahogany presentation case?

Any of these are gratifying on their own: Together, they represent a memorable combination, guaranteed to intensely please whoever the next fortunate owner may be.

We’ve taken the liberty of cleaning, oiling and calibrating this gentlemen’s pocket watch so that it keeps time as intended.
