One of the most prolific and honored of the Swiss Watch Houses, Zenith was founded in 1865 by Georges-Emile Favre-Bulle. Both Bulle and his watch house were destined for greatness. Originally known as Georges Favre-Jacot & Cie, Zenith began in a small workshop in the Les Billodes section of Le Locle – on the spot where Breguet was rumored to have had a shop.

In 1897 – the same year electricity was installed in his factory, Jacot registered the name "Zenith" over a starry sky and landscape and used it for watch cases, pocket watch movements and packaging.

The company won a Grand Prize at the Paris Universal exhibition in 1900. This was the beginning of a parade of awards for a myriad of innovations, such as chronometer advancements, chronograph design and the perfection of mechanical timekeeping. Zenith provided timepieces through two World Wars and won a half a century of awards. Today, the name "Zenith" denotes unsurpassed quality and attention to detail.

What a work of wrist art! This men's 41mm by 25mm by 10mm thick Zenith dress watch is everything one could hope for in a classic vintage timepiece – fine original dial, thick sterling silver case and, of course, a high-grade, early 20th century Swiss movement! Case is as-found, marked with 1926 Glasgow import hallmarks. Everything about this watch reflects the panache and decorum of the late Art Nouveau, early Deco elite – from its stylized, oversized numerals, original "Breguet" hands with matching sub-seconds register; original glass crystal to its hinged case with Greek Revival "wheat" pattern along either side.

Of course, the movement of this classic work of wrist-art had been completely cleaned, oiled and calibrated so that it keeps time as it was intended. We're pleased to custom-fit a bespoke black cordovan strap and matching sterling buckle to the client's wrist measurement.

If it is a stunning vintage timepiece you're after, you've found it!
