In 1875, Joseph Bulova set off on the bold experiment of a wholesale jewelry business. It was not until the '20s, realizing the potential of the newly popularized "wristlet," that he began to use his jewelry expertise to make wristwatches. His factories in Switzerland would go on to produce millions of movements for watches, then ship them to the states where each watch would be hand-assembled and tested. One can look at the early Bulova timepieces and see the clear influence of Joseph Bulova the jeweler and craftsman.

Perfect midnight-black dial with mesmeric platinum-tone Roman numerals. Attractive case with platinum-tone bezel. Period black velvet strap. Can a classic timepiece get any better?

From its black dial with most unusual contrasting white Arabic numerals to its stylish "moderne" hands, this watch, measuring 38mm long by 25mm wide, speaks to the dandy in us. A fluted bezel on a rose gold-filled case is instantly recognizable as Deco-influenced, and add the perfect accent to the piece.

One cannot hope for a better engine than the 17 ruby-jeweled Bulova movement in this watch. It's an unusual example, indeed, featuring a handsome sub-second second feature that complements the watch quite nicely.

We've completely cleaned, oiled and calibrated it so that one may either wear it and be the envy of the fashionable world or give it as a gesture of great thoughtfulness. This watch is indeed attractive period wrist art.

We're delighted to answer any questions about this or any of our offerings. We also gift box for those very special occasions.
