Men’s 1948 Waltham Dress Watch

Since Mid-Century seems to have gone from a fad phase to a full-fledged revival, we've gotten more and more phone calls for clean, original pieces from the mid '50s to early '70s. Because of this, fine examples of Mid-Century pieces watches have gotten a bit harder to get; "Town-and-Country pieces with a Minimalist look by a famed American maker; pieces that have a screen-worthy wrist stance that don't require one dig too deep to purchase.

This 1948 dress model is a thoroughly classic watch, with a magnificent, completely original platinum-tone dial featuring fancy gold-applied Arabic markers, spear hands and a matching sub-seconds register. Marked "Waltham," it is a most understated, mesmeric face.

Of course such a dial could only be housed in an equally glamorous case; a glorious yellow gold-filled example with oversized, horned lugs! Measuring a beefy 40mm lug-to lug by 32mm wide, this classic vintage timepiece has enough heft to grab someone's attention. It feels .... weighty.
